Tutorial - Film Artwork Design

Issue: Create a Film Artwork Design using Photo Pos Pro tools - In this tutorial we will learn how create a piece of film with photos inside (figure no. 1)

With Photo Pos Pro tools you can easily create beautiful artworks. To create a Film Artwork simply follow these steps:

First Stage - Creating the filmstrip: on this stage we will create the filmstrip using the shape tool.
  1. Create 500 x 800 new blank empty image (Click on File -> New -> Blank Image menu).

  2. From the tools (the left) toolbar choose the Common/Pre-made Shapes Tool

  3. At the shapes properties toolbar (the upper toolbar, figure no.3) click on the more shapes button (1) to open the more shapes dialog, select the "Common Shapes (1)" from the dialog dropdown (2) and next select the film shape (3)

  4. Set the Fore Color/Style to Black (found on the upper right side)

  5. Use the mouse to draw a piece of film shape (figure no.5)

  6. Click Ctrl + C (Or Edit -> Copy menu) to copy the piece of film
  7. Click Ctrl + F (Or Edit -> Paste Into Current Image menu) to paste a copy of the film piece and drag it to create one long filmstrip
  8. Repeat step 7 one more time to get one long filmstrip (figure no.6)

  9. By default, to allow maximum flexibility each shape you draw/paste creates a new layer for the created/pasted shape. As you can see on the Layers Objects panel (found on the right side). If you followed the instructions by now you should have image with 4 layers - a background layer + 3 film strips layers

    We will now merge the three strips into one long shape, to do that:
    1. On the layers panel select (click) the most upper layer (shape 3), next press and hold the ctrl key and select (click) shape 2 and shape 1 in orderto to select all three film shape layers (figure no.7-1)
    2. Click on the Merge/Flat Layers button to merge the three strips into one layer (figure no. 7-2)

  10. At this stage you should have image with two layers: a background layer and the film strip layer (the software probably named it as object xx). At the layers panel select (click on) the film strip layer (figure no.8-1). Next click on the item info button (figure no.8-2) and change the name of the layer to Film Strip
